VANCOUVER, BC – Nearly 19,000 working poor and homeless people across the Lower Mainland received donations of blankets, clothing, and other necessities this year from the region’s longest running Blanket Drive. Over the years, the Drive has grown to become the largest collection of its kind in our region.

Since 1994, the real estate community has partnered with local charities to distribute items collected in the region, in that time helping more than 185,000 people.

REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive will run until Monday, December 5. Hundreds of real estate offices from Whistler to Chilliwack turn into donation depots for eight days as REALTORS® collect, sort and deliver donations of warm, winter clothing and blankets for distribution to dozens of local charities.

Any items that you may have that are warm or water proof, but also things that people might not think to donate, like men’s leather belts. It’s not uncommon to see homeless folks using rope to keep their pants up. We forget they are typically a lot slimmer than we are, so size 32 or smaller belts can be really useful.”

As well as blankets, other in-demand items include new socks and underwear, jeans, sweat pants, hoodies and winter outerwear.

The Blanket Drive is more than collecting blankets. It involves partnering with business, schools and the Vancouver Police Department to help gather and distribute donations; and sorting donated items so charities receive what they need.

Imperial Parking Canada Corporation (“Impark”) announced today it is offering a one-day, 4 hour event during which anyone in Vancouver, Kamloops, Kelowna or Prince George who has an unpaid Impark parking violation notice can have it waived by... making a toy donation to The Salvation Army.

On Thursday, November 24th, Impark will be accepting new, unused and unwrapped toys, and in exchange,
the donor’s unpaid parking violation notice will be waived. A single toy donated will waive a single unpaid violation notice. Those with multiple unpaid violations will need to bring an equal number of toys to match the number of Impark parking violation notices they would like waived.

Donors must bring a copy of their violation notice(s), statement(s) or their license plate number in order to ensure proper credit of their account.

Impark will be accepting toy donations between 7am and 11am at following locations in B.C.:
